To reinstall Microsoft 365 after it was accidentally deleted, install it again from the account or apps portal associated with the subscription.
For a personal/home Microsoft 365 subscription (such as Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, or Family):
- Go to the Microsoft account dashboard: https://account.microsoft.com and select Sign in.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to set up or purchase Microsoft 365.
- If the account is forgotten, see I forgot the account I use with Microsoft 365 from the linked article in the references.
- Select the Subscriptions icon in the left pane.
- On the Subscriptions page:
- For a Microsoft 365 subscription (including Basic/Personal/Family), confirm it is listed and then select Install Microsoft 365 (usually in the upper-right of the page).
- In the Install Microsoft 365 dialog:
- Choose the preferred language.
- Choose the bit version (32-bit or 64-bit) if prompted.
- Select Install.
- An installer file (for example, OfficeSetup.exe) will download.
- Double‑click the downloaded installer and follow the prompts. The installation will start automatically.
- When the You're all set message appears, select Close.
- Ensure the device is connected to the internet, then open an app such as Word or Excel.
- Accept the license terms and, if prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account to activate the apps.
Alternative install path via the apps portal:
- Go to https://m365.cloud.microsoft/apps.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account associated with the Microsoft 365 subscription.
- From the Microsoft 365 Apps page, select Install apps and then Install.
- Run the downloaded installer and complete setup; then open any Office app to finish activation.
If Microsoft 365 came pre‑installed on the PC (for personal use):
Use the same Microsoft account that was used when first activating Office on that PC and follow the “Use online installer” steps above from the Microsoft account dashboard to reinstall.
