    Hi @T.J. Giordano,

    Thank you for the update.

It’s good to hear that you’re able to sign in now. Based on what you described, here are the recommended next steps:

1/ How to change the subscription

In Microsoft 365, you usually cannot directly convert an existing subscription into a different plan unless there is a supported upgrade path. In most cases, to change to another subscription plan, you need to purchase the new subscription first, and then move to it.

Here is how it typically works:

    1. Purchase the new subscription
      • Sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center: https://admin.microsoft.com
      • Go to Marketplace
      • Buy the Microsoft 365 plan you want to change to
    2. After the new subscription is active, you can:
    3. Once all users have been moved to the new subscription, you can:
      • Adjust license quantities, or
      • Cancel or stop renewing the old subscription (if you have permission)

2/ How to check your admin role

To confirm what level of access you currently have:

    • In the Admin Center, go to Users > Active users.
    • Select your own account.
    • Under Account tab > look for Roles section.

To manage billing or cancel subscriptions, the account typically needs one of these roles:

    • Global Administrator, or
    • Billing Administrator

If you are only a User Administrator or have limited admin rights, subscription changes will not be available.

3/ How to create a support ticket

Since there is no active owner or primary contact and billing has continued for over a year, this situation requires Microsoft Support to intervene.

    Example support ticket:

Title: Cannot manage subscription – no owner assigned, ongoing charges.

    Description:

    Hello Microsoft Support,

I can sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center and have admin‑level access, but I’m unable to manage or cancel the subscription. There is no active owner or primary contact assigned to this tenant, and the original owner is no longer reachable.

This tenant has not been used for over a year, yet billing is still active and causing ongoing charges. I need assistance to either assign proper ownership or cancel the subscription to stop further billing.

I can provide tenant ID and billing details if required.

    Thank you.

Please let me know if you need any assistance while completing these steps or if you have any further questions. I'm here to help and will be happy to assist you as needed.

    Warm regards.

    Hi @T.J. Giordano,

Thank you for reaching out regarding the billing charges on your Microsoft 365 account.

Based on the details provided, you are currently being invoiced despite not having access to the system, and no active subscriptions are visible in the Admin Center. You also noted that you are being charged for Live Help support, which is not accessible at this time.

To move this forward, the recommended next step is to contact the Microsoft Billing team by submitting a support request. The Billing team can review your billing profile, payment method, invoice history, and subscription records in detail. They will be able to determine why charges are occurring, resolve any billing discrepancies, and assist with restoring proper service access if applicable.

If you can sign in to the Admin Center:

    1. Sign in to admin.microsoft.com using an admin account.
    2. Select the Help & support button in the bottom-right corner.
    3. In the search box, enter “I need to change subscriptions.”
    4. Select Contact support.
    5. Choose your preferred contact method, time zone, and language.
    6. Provide a clear description of the issue and attach any relevant screenshots or documents.
    7. Select Contact me to submit the request.

If you cannot access the Admin Center:

If signing in is not possible, please contact Microsoft Support directly by phone using the numbers listed here: Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support

I hope this helps move things toward a quick resolution. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out again.
