taskbar clock does not bring the calendar up on click or hover

I know that the new Windows update doesn't allow for the calendar to show when hovering over the time and date, but it is supposed to bring it up with a click. When I click on mine, all I get is the current day and time in long form.

How do I fix this?

    Hi DMIH,

I understand how confusing this can be, especially since the behavior changed with recent Windows 11 updates and you're expecting the calendar to appear on click. Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try to confirm your situation:

    1. When you press “Windows key + N”, does the Notification Center open?
    2. Are you using Windows 11 Home (not Pro/Work device)?

In the meantime, please try this alternative

    Restart Windows Explorer:

    1. Press “Ctrl + Shift + Esc” to open Task Manager
    2. Find “Windows Explorer” in the list
    3. Right‑click it > select “Restart”

    This reloads the taskbar

In Windows 11, the taskbar clock opens the calendar as part of the Notifications and Action Center. If clicking the clock only shows the current day and time instead of the full calendar, the Notifications and Action Center is likely disabled by policy.

To fix this, re‑enable Notifications and Action Center via Group Policy:

    1. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
    2. In the Local Group Policy Editor, go to either:
      • User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar, or
      • Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar.
    3. Find the policy Remove Notifications and Action Center.
    4. Double‑click it and set it to Not Configured or Disabled.
    5. Select OK, then sign out and back in (or restart) and test clicking the clock again.

If the device is managed by an organization using Intune, check whether this policy is enforced from there:

    1. On the device, open Settings > Accounts > Access work or school.
    2. Select the work or school account, then select Info.
    3. At the bottom, select Create report and then Export.
    4. In File Explorer, go to C:\Users\Public\Documents\MDMDiagnostics\ and open the report.
    5. Search in the report for Remove Notifications and Action Center to see if it is enabled. If it is, the admin must change this policy in Intune.

Once Notifications and Action Center are enabled, clicking the taskbar clock should again open the calendar flyout.
