Microsoft 365 features that help users manage their subscriptions, account settings, and billing information.
To keep only one Microsoft 365 email account and request a refund, follow these steps:
- Identify which subscriptions are active
- Go to https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with each email address that might have a subscription (for example, the Outlook.com address and any other address used to buy Microsoft 365).
- Under Services & subscriptions, check which Microsoft 365 (or other Microsoft) subscriptions are listed and their renewal dates.
- Decide which subscription to keep
- Choose the subscription that should remain active (for example, the one already paid furthest into the future).
- Keeping or cancelling a subscription does not delete the email account itself; the Microsoft account and email address remain.
- Cancel the extra subscription(s)
For each subscription that should be cancelled:
- While signed in at https://account.microsoft.com/services, find the subscription and select Manage.
- If instead of Manage it shows Turn on recurring billing, that subscription is already set to expire and will not be charged again.
- On the next page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on what is shown).
- Follow the on‑screen steps to complete cancellation.
- While signed in at https://account.microsoft.com/services, find the subscription and select Manage.
- Check refund eligibility
- For Microsoft 365 Basic, Personal, Family, or Premium bought directly from Microsoft, refund eligibility is determined during cancellation. Not all cancellations result in a refund.
- If the subscription was purchased in Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Israel, Korea, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, or Turkey, there may be a prorated refund depending on subscription length and renewal status. Details are in the refund policy shown during cancellation.
- If the subscription was purchased through Google Play, Apple App Store, or a third‑party retailer (such as Amazon), contact that store directly for any refund.
- If charges are not recognized or there were duplicate charges
- Sign in to the Manage your payments area from your Microsoft account dashboard (linked from the refund article) to review charges.
- If there are still questions or if a refund is needed beyond what the self‑service flow offers, contact Microsoft Support using the Contact Support option described in the refund and cancellation articles.
After cancelling the extra subscription(s), continue using the remaining Microsoft account and email address as normal. The cancelled subscription’s account will still exist, but without the paid Microsoft 365 benefits once the current term ends.
