Dear Microsoft Support Team,

I am locked out of my device due to BitLocker. On startup, my PC shows the recovery screen: “Secure Boot policy has unexpectedly changed.”

Recovery Key ID: D08576AC-8A0D-419D-8685-DC89AFD61C79

When I try to get the recovery key from https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey, my device is listed as “Device is disabled” under my account.

My Details:

Microsoft Account: ******@students.muet.edu.pk

Device Name: DESKTOP-G487N3E

Device Object ID: 24ff141f-124f-460e-a4b8-83f5af275ed5

Organisation Status: Active - MUET

Since the device appears to be organization-managed and disabled, please advise if you can provide the BitLocker recovery key, or if I must contact my organization admin to re-enable the device first.

I wish I could share good news, but the truth is no one can get you the bitlocker key, including Microsoft staff/support. https://support.microsoft.com/windows/find-your-bitlocker-recovery-key-6b71ad27-0b89-ea08-f143-056f5ab347d6 The link here says:"Important: Microsoft Support doesn't have the ability to retrieve, provide, or recreate a lost BitLocker recovery key."

Since this is a school managed device, check this link instead: https://aka.ms/aadrecoverykey sign in with your work/school email credential in that case.

If it is not stored there, ask your school IT department. Some organization might opt to store the keys via MDM in the backend. In that case, only they can access.
