Sole Microsoft 365 Global Admin Locked Out Due to MFA – No Recovery Options

I am the only global admin for a Microsoft 365 tenant (small business), and I am completely locked out due to MFA enforcement. Current situation: - No access to Microsoft Authenticator - No backup authentication methods configured - No secondary admin accounts exist. The only way I can post this is through a separate Microsoft Account.

I have attempted:

  • Standard account recovery
  • Multiple login attempts across devices/browsers
  • Microsoft support chat and phone

Support was able to create a case, but the system automatically sent the case number to my email and disconnected the call. Since the email is part of the locked tenant, I cannot access the case details or follow up. This leaves me in a full tenant lockout with no self-service recovery path and no way to retrieve the existing support case.

    Hello Nicholas Yenchek,

The issue pertains to a tenant lockout, where no other global admin in the tenant has the necessary permissions to login and make changes in your tenant.

To resolve this, we have engaged our Data Protection team through a support ticket. They will reach out to you via email or phone to help restore access to the tenant and assist in resolving the issue.
