Hi

Im on a Mac

I received a spam/junk email saying they had all my passwords etc. I normally just block and bin but didn't notice until too late that the email appeared to come from me and to me.

After I binned and blocked now all my bcc's to myself have no entry signs .. Like I blocked myself.

If I send an email to myself it goes straight to deleted

I cannot see the offending email in the blocked email list.

Can any one help

    Hello

This looks like a potential spoofed email. You need to first get yourself unblocked. Are you saying you cannot find your email address listed on the block list? If that's the case, any chance you did this on a phone? If so, check your phone's contact app, or contact settings, make sure you are not blocked there.

Next, can you use this instruction to get the email header that was sent by "yourself" https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/view-internet-message-headers-in-outlook-cd039382-dc6e-4264-ac74-c048563d212c

I would like to review this email header to determined if it is really spoofed, or indeed from you by someone hacking into your account.

When you share, please modify your email address to dummy ones to protect your privacy.

The behavior matches a case where the account or own contact/address has been blocked or treated as junk, often via a rule or a blocked-sender entry that is not obvious at first glance.

Try these steps in Outlook.com / Outlook on the web (since the tag indicates Outlook Web/Outlook.com), even if Outlook for Mac is also used:

    1. Check blocked senders and domains
      1. Sign in to Outlook.com or Outlook on the web.
      2. Select Settings (gear icon) > Mail > Junk email.
      3. Under Blocked senders and domains, look for:
        • The full email address.
        • The domain part of the address (for example, @outlook.com, @hotmail.com, or the custom domain).
      4. If found, select it and remove it from the blocked list.
      5. Select Save.
    2. Check “Block or allow” settings
      1. In Outlook on the web, go to Settings > Mail.
      2. Under Options, select Block or allow.
      3. Review these sections:
        • Blocked Senders: remove the own address or domain if present.
        • Safe Senders and Recipients: optionally add the own address here so it is always treated as safe.
      4. If Don’t trust email unless it comes from someone in my Safe Senders and Recipients list or local senders is enabled, ensure the own address is in Safe Senders and Recipients.
      5. Save changes.
    3. Check blocked senders from the Mail app side If Mail and Calendar for Windows 10 or Outlook.com web settings have ever been used, the same junk/blocked configuration applies:
      1. Sign in to Outlook.com.
      2. Select Settings > Options or Mail.
      3. In the left menu, select Blocked Senders or Block and allow.
      4. If the own address or its domain appears, select it and remove it.
    4. Check for client-side rules or filters The symptoms (messages from self going directly to Deleted Items) can also be caused by a rule that moves messages from the own address to Deleted Items or another folder. Review rules in each mail client used (Outlook on the web, Outlook for Mac, Apple Mail on the Mac or iPhone) and remove or disable any rule that targets messages from the own address.
    5. If using Outlook for Mac with a non-Exchange account If the account in Outlook for Mac is non-Exchange (IMAP/POP):
      1. In Outlook for Mac, select Tools > Spam Email Preferences.
      2. On the Blocked Senders tab, look for the own address or domain.
      3. If present, select it and choose Remove the selected sender.
    6. If using Outlook for Mac with an Exchange/Outlook.com account For Exchange-based accounts (including Outlook.com), junk mail filtering and blocked senders are managed on the server:
      • Use the Outlook.com / Outlook on the web steps above (Junk email and Block or allow) to remove the own address from Blocked senders.

After removing the own address/domain from all blocked lists and any rules that move such messages, new Bcc or direct messages to self should stop going to Deleted Items and should arrive in the Inbox.
