My Outlook 365 is linked to my gmail account and my Teams is logged into my gmail account. When I create an appointment, there is a knob "Log on to Teams" but it does not create a Teams meeting link

    Hello

This is a feature only available to accounts associated with a business tier license. You are on a personal Microsoft account, so this will not work. You need to create your meeting in Teams calendar tab instead.

However, if you use New Teams, the calendar tab there allows you to launch an item and it will include the Teams meeting toggle. But you will not see it since you are using a third party email address as your Microsoft account alias. For the toggle to show up, you need to assign your Microsoft account an outlook.com alias instead, and sign in using this outlook, com alias in new Teams.

To give your account an outlook.com alias, go to https://account.live.com

Go to Your Info > Sign in preference, Add an alias.

Create new: this will allow you to use the native domain outlook.com to create a new alias.

Once added, make this new alias your primary alias, then you can delete the other email as alias, gmail can stay as secondary.

Outlook 365 can only create Teams meetings when the calendar is backed by a Microsoft 365 Exchange work account. A Gmail (POP/IMAP) account is not supported by the Teams Meeting add-in, even if Teams is signed in with the same Gmail address.

Key points from the documented behavior:

    1. The Outlook Teams add-in does not support personal accounts or free/consumer mailboxes such as Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, or Outlook.com.
    2. Scheduling Teams meetings from Outlook is only available for Microsoft 365 Business Exchange accounts.
    3. For the best experience, a Microsoft 365 Business Exchange account must be configured in Outlook and used together with the Microsoft Teams app.

Because the Outlook profile is using a Gmail account, the “Log on to Teams” control cannot generate a Teams meeting link. To schedule Teams meetings with this setup, use one of these supported approaches:

    • Use the Microsoft Teams app or Teams web app to create the meeting and send the invite; the invite can still be sent to Gmail recipients.
    • Or add/configure a Microsoft 365 Business Exchange work account in Outlook and use that account’s calendar to schedule Teams meetings directly from Outlook.
