Microsoft Word won't load on my samsung galaxy s10 fe tablet

The microsoft word app on my android tablet no longer loads so that I can login.

Thank you for reporting this issue and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

I've seen several users with the same problem. This mainly happens on Android devices, especially Samsung.

In addition, I found a method that could help you:

Follow the steps below:

1/ Settings -> Apps-> Search for "Android System WebView" -> App details in the store -> Remove updates.

2/ Restart the device.

3/ Settings -> Apps -> Search for "Android System WebView" -> App details in the store -> Update.

Note: If "Android System WebView" doesn't appear in the list of apps, go to: Settings -> Google -> All Services -> System Services -> Select "Android System WebView".

4/ Restart the device.

5/ Open Word and sign in.

Additionally, many users also report that an update of your device and Microsoft apps also resolve the issue.

Hi Jayden-P,

Yes, I have tried the instructions you provided but I'm still having the same problem unfortunately. If you can please advise of next steps I can try, would be really helpful.

Previously I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling both word and microsoft 365 apps.

My tablet is up to date as well as those two apps.

Hello Vee

The last solution I could provide is to use Secure folder. On your Samsung tablet > Go to Secure folder > Add apps. Please note that I tested Teams, Outlook and Authenticator and they worked fine. You can try with your Word app. My Word app is still working normally so I couldn't reproduce your case at this time.

If you use Microsoft Authenticator, make sure you update the app in Play Store as well.

Hi Jayden,

Thankfully my Word app is running today, yay! However I'm back to my original problem of there being issues with saving properly to my Onedrive.

If there are some possible solutions I can try that may help with this please?

I'll admit I'm a bit skeptical to try troubleshooting this problem as I'm needing the app for my uni assessments, and if need be I'm happy to put up with this minor, albeit annoying issue (especially in comparison to having to go to the library to convert my documents to word and then to submit them in).

Try these steps in order on the Samsung Galaxy S10 FE tablet:

Force close Word and restart the tablet
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Word.
- Tap Force stop.
- Restart the tablet and try opening Word again.
Check file compatibility (if it hangs when opening a document)
If Word only fails when opening a specific file, the file type may not be fully supported on Android. Word for Android can fully open and edit .docx and .dotx files, and open some others as read-only (for example .doc, .odt, .pdf, .rtf, .txt). If the file is another type (such as .xml, .html, .mht, .wps), it may not open.
- Try opening the same file in Word for Windows, Word for the web, or Word for iOS.
- When prompted, save a copy as .docx and then try opening that copy on the tablet.
Update the Word app
- Open Google Play Store, search for Microsoft Word, and install any available update.
- Then try launching the app again.
Clear Word app data (this signs out and resets the app)
- Go to Settings → Apps → Word → Storage.
- Tap Clear cache, then Clear data.
- Open Word again and sign in.
Uninstall and reinstall Word
- From Settings → Apps → Word, choose Uninstall.
- Restart the tablet.
- Reinstall Word from the Google Play Store and sign in again.
If Word still will not load at all
- Use Word on the web in a browser as a workaround while troubleshooting the device.
- If the issue is specific to certain documents, convert them to .docx using Word on another device as described in step 2.
