Hello @Steven Goldman,
Good day! I hope you're doing well.
Thank you for checking on this, and I understand how useful this feature can be.
At this time, New Outlook for Windows does not support editing the subject line or message body of a received email. This capability is currently not available as a built‑in function.
While this isn’t supported yet, you may find one of the following options helpful depending on your needs:
- Reply to or forward the message and add notes, clarifications, or updated information there.
- Copy the message content into a new email draft, OneNote, or another document for personal reference or tracking. For example, you can refer to Send emails and meetings from Outlook to OneNote - Microsoft Support
- Use categories, flags, or folders to organize and manage messages without modifying the original content.
If you want this feature to appear in New Outlook in the future. I encourage you to submit feedback and upvote existing feature requests to show demand from the community at Outlook · Community. The Product Team is in-charge of the feedback site, and they are constantly checking the comments and feedback from our customer. Many features have been developed or improved based on users' comment.
After submitting your request on the site, you can return here and paste the link into this thread. That way, other users who visit this discussion can click the link and upvote your request to help bring more attention to it.
You can also give feedback to Microsoft Product from Within the New Outlook App:
- Open your New Outlook > go to Help tab > choose Feedback.
- Select the Team to receive your feedback and Choose Make a suggestion.
- Fill in the form and submit your feedback.
In the meantime, you can check Microsoft 365 Roadmap for updating features in the future.
Please note that Q&A forum moderators do not have access to backend systems or the ability to change app behavior directly. Our role is to assist based on available documentation and guidance from Microsoft based on our knowledge.
I genuinely appreciate your feedback and share your goal of making New Outlook better and more user-friendly.
