There were rarely any discounts for associate level exams on virtual training day events, they are focussed on the fundamentals exams. There were occasional challenges but these tended recently to focus on Fabric and AI. I cannot remember any offer for AZ-204 for the past few years.

The AZ-204 exam is being retired this summer; there are no discounts for retiring exams.

There is no current, always-available 50% discount path for exam AZ-204 documented in the provided context. Discounts are tied to specific, time‑bound offers or events. The context shows several patterns that have been used for AZ‑204 and other exams:

    1. Event- or challenge-based free/discounted exams
      Examples in the context include:
      • Microsoft Build Cloud Skills Challenge offers with a list of eligible exams that sometimes includes AZ‑204 and require completing a challenge, then scheduling the exam so the price shows as $0.00 at checkout.
      • Microsoft Ignite Cloud Skills Challenge offers where eligible exams (including AZ‑204) can be taken for free if the challenge is completed and the exam is scheduled within the offer window.
      • Sweepstakes or skills challenges (for example, Azure Cosmos DB Conf) that grant a 100% discount voucher for specific exams when selected as a winner.
These offers are all time‑limited and exam‑list specific; they are not ongoing 50% discounts.
    2. Beta exam discount codes (historical example for AZ‑204)
When AZ‑204 was in beta, an 80% discount was available using a promo code at registration, limited to the first 300 candidates and to a specific date. This was a one‑time, expired offer and does not apply now.
    3. Virtual Training Days / webinar discounts
For some events (for example, Microsoft Virtual Training Days or specific webinars), discounts are applied to the Microsoft Learn profile associated with the email used to register. The discount:
      • Is automatically attached to that Learn profile.
      • Appears and is applied at the final stage of checkout on the Pearson VUE site.
      • Can take around five business days after the event to appear.
These discounts are event-specific and may or may not cover AZ‑204, depending on the current promotion.
    4. Redeeming vouchers/discounts when available
When a discount or voucher is available on the Learn profile or via email:
      • Start from the AZ‑204 exam page and select Schedule exam.
      • Sign in with the same Microsoft Learn account that holds the discount.
      • Proceed to Pearson VUE; any eligible discount is applied during checkout, or a voucher code can be entered on the payment screen under “Add Voucher or Promo Code”.

Because all offers in the context are tied to specific past events (Build, Ignite, beta period, particular skills challenges, or specific webinars), the only supported way to get a discount for AZ‑204 now is to:

    • Register for and complete any current Microsoft events, Virtual Training Days, or skills challenges that explicitly state they provide a discount or voucher for AZ‑204 or for role-based Azure exams, and
    • Then redeem that discount through the standard Pearson VUE registration flow as described.

The context does not describe any standing, always-on 50% student or public discount specifically for AZ‑204.
