I understand why this is frustrating, especially since you had everything working earlier. Edge does not delete saved passwords on its own, so this usually comes down to profile, sync, or data location rather than loss.

Try accessing passwords directly • Open: edge://settings/passwords • Also check if “Offer to save passwords” and “Autofill passwords” are enabled.

If possible, please share: • A screenshot of edge://sync-internals → “Type Info” tab • A screenshot of your profile menu (top right in Edge)

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

This makes no sense!  After being hounded by Microsoft repeatedly to set Edge as my default browser, I did so a few months ago.  According to Microsoft making Edge my default browser will improve my experience.  Well let me tell you that my "experience" has gotten very bad using Edge.

So a few months ago I was notified by certain retirement Govt websites, and my health insurance website that they no longer support Firefox.  In order to facilitate access to those websites to manage my retirement and related Govt accounts I went ahead and set Edge as my default browser.

At that time I imported my bookmarks, certain favorites, and Imported my passwords from my up to date Firefox password manager.  Also to be clear, I set my default search engine as DuckDuckgo.

OK then, The password manager was populated with all my current passwords.  However, "autofill" never worked.  But for those specific sites that would not autofill the password at sign in, I had no problem copying from the password manager.  In spite of the nuisance at least my passwords were easily accessible to copy and paste into the the respective sign in screens.  So, it was working kinda.

Now when I go to the password manager there are no password lists under my account.  (I have not changed my account name)  There is nothing there.  The "Help" answer suggests it is in a different profile.  Really  What other profile?  I am the only user of this computer.  I have only One microsoft profile.

    My settings are:

    Default Browser: Edge

    Default search engine: DuckDuckGo

    Onedrive: OFF- not used

The only reason I switched to Edge is to satisfy specific security sensitive websites that are only supporting Edge or Chrome at this time.  Otherwise, functionally, Firefox works great!

Let me know if you have a better solution that does not require me giving up my choices.

    Thank You

    Hi Em,

Passwords are not deleted by Edge automatically, let us test the status.

    Please go to

    edge://sync-internals/

Take a screenshot of Type info tab and post in the next reply.

I’m eager to hear back and work together to find a solution.

In Microsoft Edge, imported passwords are stored in the built‑in Microsoft Password Manager under the profile that was active when the import was done. If no passwords are showing now, the most common reasons are:

    1. A different Edge profile is currently active than the one used when importing.
    2. Password saving/sync is turned off, so nothing appears under the current profile.
    3. The passwords were never successfully imported into this profile.

To check where the passwords are and whether they exist in the current profile:

    1. Open Microsoft Edge.
    2. Go to edge://settings/passwords or select Settings and more (three dots) > Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
    3. In this list, verify whether any passwords are present. This is where imported passwords from Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox are stored if the import completed successfully.

If nothing appears there, also check that password saving is enabled so new passwords will be stored going forward:

    1. In Edge, go to Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Passwords.
    2. Turn on Offer to save passwords and/or Automatically save passwords.

If passwords were imported from another browser, they are handled as follows:

    • From Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Internet Explorer, Edge imports “Saved passwords” into the same Passwords page (edge://settings/passwords). During import, if a password already exists for the same site and username, Edge overwrites the existing one with the imported one; otherwise, existing passwords remain unaffected.

Edge does not delete or move passwords anywhere else on the device outside of the Microsoft Password Manager for the active profile. If the list is empty now, either the passwords were not imported into this profile, the profile has changed, or they have been cleared from the browser.

To view or edit any passwords that do exist:

    1. Open Edge.
    2. Select the three dots > Settings.
    3. Select Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager.
    4. Select the entry, then use the eye icon to view or Edit to change it (device PIN/password may be required).
