A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
The text not reaching all the way across the landscape certificate is usually caused by page margins or the printer’s minimum printable area limiting how far text can go toward the edges.
Use these steps to adjust and test:
- Set margins for the certificate
- In Word, select Layout > Margins.
- Choose a preset (for example, Narrow) or select Custom Margins.
- In Custom Margins, reduce Left and Right margins so the text can extend further across the page.
- Make sure the page is set to Landscape via Layout > Orientation > Landscape.
- Check for printer limitations
Even if margins are small, the printer may not print to the very edge of the paper.
- If Word shows a warning such as “One or more margins are set outside the printable area of the page,” choose Fix to automatically increase margins to the minimum the printer supports.
- If a message appears when printing like “The margins of section X are set outside the printable area of the page,” adjust that section’s margins:
- Go to Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.
- Increase the margins slightly until the warning no longer appears, or click Fix when prompted.
- Verify that the section margins match the page
If the certificate is in a specific section:
- Place the cursor in that certificate page.
- Go to Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.
- In Apply to, choose This section so the landscape certificate section uses the margins just set.
- Lay out signature lines and names
- After margins are corrected, insert a table with invisible borders or use tab stops across the page to position signature lines and names evenly.
- Ensure the table or text box is not narrower than the page’s printable width.
If borders or lines near the edge still don’t print, increase the margins slightly (especially the side where content is missing) because of the printer’s minimum margin requirement.
