Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
To speak with a tech support agent about adding an alternate recovery email address for an Outlook.com account, use Microsoft’s official support channels:
- Go to Outlook.com and sign in to the account that needs help.
- Select Help on the menu bar.
- In the Help pane, type a short description such as “add alternate recovery email” or “manage account security”.
- Follow the self-help suggestions. If the issue is not resolved, scroll down to the Still need help? section and select Yes to reach support options.
- Use the available option (such as chat) to connect with a support agent and explain that assistance is needed adding or updating a recovery email address.
If sign-in is not possible, use the Outlook.com support entry point for locked-out users:
- Go to the “If you can't sign in” support page for Outlook.com and follow the prompts to reach support and/or the account recovery form.
For broader Microsoft account and billing help (including security info and recovery options), support is also available via the Account & Billing Help portal.
