Are you seeing any error message when opening Excel or the file?

Have you tried opening Excel in Safe Mode? Press Windows + R, type excel /safe, and press Enter, then try opening the file.

The built-in “Repair now” option usually runs a Quick Repair, which often does not fully fix deeper Excel or Office corruption. That is why the error keeps coming back even after choosing to repair.

Use a full Online Repair of Office instead:

1. Close all Office apps (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
2. In Windows, open Settings.
3. Go to Apps → Installed apps.
4. Find Microsoft 365 (or Office) in the list.
5. Click the three dots next to it → Modify.
6. Choose Online Repair and confirm.
   • This completely reinstalls Office and replaces corrupted components.
   • It can take 15–30 minutes; do not cancel it.
7. Restart the PC after the repair finishes.
8. Open Excel first and check if it now works normally.

If Excel still fails after a full Online Repair, the installation may be severely corrupted and a full uninstall/reinstall (including manually deleting remaining Office folders and registry entries) might be required, or direct support assistance may be needed.
