Outlook will let me log in on safari however when I put in the correct password on my mail apps just states you’ve tried too many times. So when I go to my verification options, it sends nothing?

    Hi,

Currently, there is a service degradation regarding Outlook.com. iOS users may encounter issues when trying to access Outlook or Hotmail through the iOS default Mail app.

iOS users on iPhones MUST take the following steps to re-enter their password and access their accounts:

    1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
    2. Scroll down and tap on Mail.
    3. Select Accounts under the Mail settings.
    4. Tap on the email account for which you need to re-enter the password.
    5. Tap on Account Settings or directly on the Password field (depending on your iOS version).
    6. Enter the updated or correct password in the Password field.
    7. Tap Done to save the changes.
    8. Open the Mail app to confirm that the account is syncing properly and emails are being sent/received.

    Stay Safe!

The account is temporarily locked on the apps because of too many failed sign-in or verification attempts, even though sign-in still works in Safari. To avoid extending the lock, avoid further sign-in attempts in the apps for about 24 hours, then try again.

    Use these steps:

    1. Stop trying to sign in on the Mail/Outlook apps for at least 24 hours. Repeated attempts can restart the cooldown and keep the account locked on those clients.
    2. During the wait period, keep using Outlook via Safari where sign-in already works.
    3. After 24+ hours, try again on the app from a familiar device and network (same phone/Wi‑Fi normally used). If prompted, complete verification using any method that does work (backup email, Authenticator, etc.).
    4. If the account still appears blocked or verification options continue to fail after the wait:
      • Use the account recovery and unblock flows from a browser:
        • For a blocked Outlook.com account, follow Unblock my Outlook.com account and, if needed, submit a Request for Account Reinstatement.
      • If this is a work/school account and webmail (OWA) also fails, contact the organization’s IT admin to check whether the account has been blocked for suspicious activity.

If none of the verification methods (SMS, email, etc.) work and the recovery form has already been used to its daily limit, wait until the next day before submitting again, and fill it out from a known device/location with as much accurate detail as possible.
