    Hi

You need to email rockstar about this issue, only they can reset your account for the MSA to work.

For a non-Microsoft account like Rockstar Games that was added to Microsoft Authenticator as a third‑party OTP (one-time password) account, the app does not back up or restore the underlying Rockstar security settings. Losing the old phone means the original Rockstar two-step verification setup is no longer available through Authenticator.

From the Microsoft Authenticator side, the only supported options are:

    1. If a backup exists and is restorable
      • On the new phone, install Microsoft Authenticator.
      • Use the same platform as before (iOS→iOS or Android→Android), because “you can only backup and restore on the same device type.”
      • Follow the platform-specific restore steps (for example, on Android use Restore from backup / Begin recovery; on iOS use iCloud backup) to restore Authenticator data.
      • Third‑party accounts like Rockstar that use a 30‑second one-time password will have their codes available once restored.
    2. If a backup does not exist or cannot be restored
      • Authenticator cannot recover the Rockstar account configuration.
      • The only option is to re-add the Rockstar account to Authenticator after regaining access directly with Rockstar support or their account recovery process.

Microsoft support and Authenticator cannot override or recover Rockstar’s two-step verification; recovery must be done through Rockstar’s own account recovery options, then the account can be added again to Authenticator.
