How do I change my e-mail address registered to my Microsoft Suite I have just paid monthly for?

I have by mistake registered an email address I no longer have access to for my Microsoft Suite, paid monthly.

I need to update my email to one that I have access to...

How do I do this, and why is it so hard to call someone for help, using an Australian number. They keep hanging up once and give no option to talk to someone....

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!!!

Hello, good day and thanks for your question. If you are referring to transferring the Microsoft 365 license from one account to another, you cannot transfer an existing Microsoft 365 subscription from one Microsoft account to another. Please see the below link as a reference.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/transfer-a-microsoft-365-subscription-to-another-account-9ea55e89-ffcb-4da3-9c73-7051d75a7221

As you have an existing subscription, you will need to cancel it first and then you can go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/microsoft365/billing and try it from there or try to turn off the recurring billing at https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2277073 and you can also follow the guided steps indicated from the link below.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/turn-recurring-billing-on-or-off-for-a-microsoft-subscription-66f40aee-2317-f74b-40f9-2be7e92f0167

Kindly take note that the forum does not have access to user accounts to be able to check and intervene with account related and billing side of things and you can reach out to the support team at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and then click on Microsoft 365 and then click Get Home Support and then type in Billing question and click the blue button that says Sign in to contact Support and login and proceed from there or you can also request a call back by going to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2168171 in case you are having trouble cancelling and getting a refund.

To change the email address associated with a personal Microsoft 365 subscription, the email must be updated on the underlying Microsoft account (the account used to sign in and manage the subscription). This is done by managing aliases on the Microsoft account.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Go to the "how you sign in" page for the Microsoft account:
    2. Sign in with the account that currently owns the Microsoft 365 subscription (the one with the old email address).
    3. Add the new email address as an alias:
      • Choose Add email.
      • Follow the instructions to add the new email address as an alias to the Microsoft account.
    4. (Optional but recommended) Add a phone number as well:
      • Choose Add phone number and follow the prompts.
    5. Make the new email address the primary alias:
      • After the new email is added and verified, select Make primary next to that email address.
    6. Remove the old email address (if desired and if it is not needed anymore):
      • Select Remove next to the old email address.

    Notes and limitations:

    • Email addresses and phone numbers on the account are called aliases and share the same contacts, subscriptions, and settings.
    • Any alias can be used to sign in, but verification codes sent by email can only go to the primary alias or another email added as a way to verify sign-in.
    • VOIP numbers cannot be used for sign-in or verification codes.
    • An organization may restrict adding its email addresses as aliases.

If there are sign-in issues or trouble changing aliases, use the guided support tool mentioned in the documentation to help with managing the account information.

For contacting support by phone or chat about billing or account issues, use the official Microsoft Support contact flow described in the Q&A excerpts (for example, via the "Contact – Microsoft Support" or "Contact Support" entry points, then choosing the appropriate product and subscription category). Availability and call-back options can vary by region, which may explain difficulty reaching a live agent by Australian number.
