Edition  Windows 11 Pro

Version 25H2

Installed on         ‎2/‎14/‎2025

OS build               26200.8246

Experience           Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.297.0

PC Manager Version 3.21.1.0

The original tool box with the screen shot app that I frequently use is missing. How do I get it back?

Now there are icons for AI Tools and Clawboard that I do not use.

I tried app repair -does nothing. I unistalled and reinstalled - still no Tool Box that was very helpful to daily work tasks. Was it discontinued? It was so quick and easy compared to the Snip It steps.

Windows 11 Pro is current. Have run DISM tools and SFC Scan. Dell PC and apps are maintained and current.

Thank you for any suggestions offered.

    Hi Pauline T,

Thank you for sharing the details. Based on what you described, this looks more like a PC Manager interface/change in the current app version rather than a problem with Windows itself. Microsoft’s PC Manager site still references “Toolbox & Mini toolbar,” but there does not appear to be official guidance showing how to restore the older Toolbox layout in version 3.21.1.0 after it is replaced by items like AI Tools and Clawboard.

Because of that, reinstalling Windows Explorer would not normally bring that feature back. However, here are some possible alternative workarounds that you can try:

    1. Use Snipping Tool directly for screenshots - Press Windows + Shift + S to capture a screenshot quickly.
    2. Use screen recording if needed - Press Windows + Shift + R to record part of your screen.

At this point, the safest conclusion is that the old Toolbox may have been changed, moved, or retired in the current PC Manager build rather than removed by a problem on your PC. I understand that is frustrating, especially when it was part of your daily workflow.

Toolbox behavior or availability for PC Manager is not covered in the provided material. The only supported guidance in context for missing or malfunctioning app features on Windows 11 is to repair or reset apps, or reinstall Windows components when necessary.

To repair or reset an app in Windows 11 Pro:

    1. Select Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    2. Find the app (for example, PC Manager), select the More icon next to it, then choose Advanced options.
    3. Select Repair if available; if that does not restore functionality, select Reset.

If app repair/reset does not resolve the issue and the feature has been removed in a newer version, the remaining supported option in context is to repair the Windows installation while keeping apps and data. This can restore built-in experiences that may be affected by updates:

    1. Go to Settings > System > Recovery.
    2. Use the in-place reinstall/repair option that keeps apps, files, and settings (for example, “Reinstall” or “Fix problems using Windows Update” depending on the UI).
    3. After completion, check again whether the app and its features behave as expected.

If the feature was intentionally removed by the app’s publisher, there is no supported method in the context to re-enable it other than using whatever version the publisher currently provides.
