I paid for Microsoft when i purchased my computer. Nowhere did it say that it was a subscription.

This is extortion and should be illegal.

There are two main versions of Office currently, a subscription based Microsoft 365 version and a one-time payment version of Office 2024.

If you do not want the subscription based version of Office, you can cancel that subscription using the steps provided on this link.

The one-time payment Office licences come in a couple of different versions:

Office Home 2024 (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
