The photos do not form thumbnails, the system says i don't have permission but this seems to only occur in selected folders, despite me giving myself full access. Problem occurs with file Explorer, qdir and ACDsee at least

    Regards Graeme

Please provide more information on this problem.

Where are yo unable to see the image files, is that in File Explorer or in the Photos app.

If that is in the Photos app, have you added the E drive folder containing the image files to the Photos app.

If you are unable to see the image files in File Explorer, please provide a screenshot of the problem you are seeing on the E drive.

Photos stored on an internal E: drive will not automatically appear in the Windows Photos app or Camera Roll. The folder that contains them must be added so they can be viewed and managed.

To see photos from the E: drive in the Photos app:

    1. Open Photos.
    2. In the left sidebar, select the Gallery tab (under Folders).
    3. Select Add folder.
    4. Browse to the folder on the E: drive where the photos are stored and select it.
    5. The Photos app will now show the pictures from that folder.

If photos were taken with the Camera app and are missing, ensure the Camera Roll folder is correctly set up and accessible:

    1. Open File Explorer and go to This PC → the drive where pictures are saved.
    2. Make sure there is a Camera Roll folder (for example under Pictures). If not, create a new folder named Camera Roll and include it in the library:
      • Right-click the new Camera Roll folder → Include in libraryCamera Roll.
    3. Confirm that the save location for new photos and videos is valid:
      • Go to StartSettingsSystemStorageWhere new content is saved.
      • Under New photos and videos will save to, ensure the listed drive is connected and valid. Change it if needed, apply, then change back and apply again.

Once the E: drive folder (or Camera Roll) is added and accessible, photos on that drive should be visible on the new PC through Photos or File Explorer.
