folder has disappeared

I was in the process of moving an email from the inbox to a folder. The folder disappeared.

    I'm sorry to hear you're running into this, to help this get diagnosed better, I've got a quick question, are you using Outlook desktop, web, or both or any other mail app?

    This usually points to a move/sync or view issue rather than permanent loss.

    If you're using Outlook, you can try the following:

    • Search for one email that was inside that folder → right‑click → Open folder location (often shows where it was moved)
    • Expand all folders in the sidebar (it may be nested under another folder)
    • Check Deleted Items and Recover deleted items
    • Check Outlook on the web
      • If the folder appears there → desktop/view issue
      • If not → it may have been moved or removed server‑side
