A Microsoft app for iOS and Android devices that enables authentication with two-factor verification, phone sign-in, and code generation
Hey there, Marcus Fogarty
When adding the account on the Microsoft Authenticator app, please sign into your Microsoft account here: https://aka.ms/mfasetup
Once you have signed into your account, please click onto 'Add sign-in method'
Then choose the option for the Microsoft Authenticator from the list of methods. Then follow the on-screen instructions. When doing this, please make sure you have the Microsoft Authenticator app open and ready as you will need this for this setup.
When I try to add ******@mfoganalytics.onmicrosoft.com to the authenticator app it states that the email address is not recognised.
I think what is happening is that you’re trying to sign into the Microsoft Authenticator app using your business account above. The app only allows you to sign in with a personal Microsoft Account for backup and recovery, which is why the business address isn’t recognised.
You can still add your business account to the Authenticator app. You just don’t add it by signing into the app directly. Instead, you add it through the organisation’s MFA setup page. The mfasetup link I provided above lets you sign in with your work/school (Entra ID) account and register the Authenticator method correctly.
However, if this is what you were trying to do, but ran into that error about your account not existing. Please let me know and we can troubleshoot this further.
Hope this helps,
Nathan
