Re-Add teams link when it’s originally taken out

I created a meeting invite as delegate which originally had a teams link, I took it out as it was changed to an in person meeting, they would now like to add a teams link but I am unable to add this, it just gives me the option of join teams on the tool bar? Is there anything that can done to change this. I have tried on the desktop/web page but the click add teams link is greyed out? It would be helpful not to have to resend the invite if possible? Thanks

To better assist, could you please confirm following information:

Which app are you editing the meeting in?
When you open the meeting, does it show Organized by: you or Organized by: someone else (the person you’re a delegate for)?
Are you creating/editing the meeting from: Your own calendar, or as a delegate?
What exactly did you do to “remove the Teams link”? Did you remove it by: turning Teams meeting OFF (toggle), or manually deleting the “Join Teams” text from the meeting body? It would be helpful if you could share the steps you followed, so I can reproduce and find the correct solution for you.
Can you create a brand-new Teams meeting today (Teams link added successfully), or is “Teams meeting / Add Teams link” greyed out for every meeting?
Would you mind sharing me a screenshot of your meeting invite so that I can understand about your issue?

Hi Daniel-Vo, thank you for your reply, I was editing from Outlook, its from someone else's calendar but I am the delegate with full editing rights. I deleted the link as I am using the desktop version, not the web version. However when going into the Web Version it was grey out. I could select it show an inperson but not adjust the teams option. I worked around it by going into the appointment via teams app on desktop and went to copy link and then updated the meeting. This provided a link for everyone to access the meeting.

I would like to clarify how this behavior works:

Why the “Teams Meeting” button is greyed out

If the Teams meeting option is greyed out, it usually means: The meeting can still function as a Teams meeting

About removing the Teams link

There are two different cases:

1/ You only delete the Teams link text in the body

The meeting is still a Teams meeting in the background, you just removed the visible link text. In this case, you can simply:

Add attendees (if needed)

Send the update again

The meeting is still valid as a Teams meeting

2/ The Teams meeting is fully removed

The Teams meeting is completely removed only if the entire Teams block is deleted, including the last lines such as:

Join Microsoft Teams Meeting Meeting ID: xxx xxx xxx Passcode: xxxx Dial-in information

When these last rows (including the meeting ID/code) are removed: The meeting becomes a regular (non-Teams) meeting

Outlook may not allow re-adding the Teams link (especially for delegates)

Therefore, if it’s still active, you still can resend the meeting. If it was fully removed, you can ask organizer to turn on the the Teams toggle

Thank you Daniel-Vo, I did, I believe delete/completely remove the teams link, including the ID code etc. Good to know the above, on this occasion it did not allow me to regenerate or add a teams link which is a shame that it can't do this as a delegate with editing rights. Sometimes it is not possible to get access to the organzier directly as they may be working elsewhere and difficult to contact them in order to update the invite. Unfortunately due to GDPR and company policy I would be unable to share the details of the meeting invite on this occasion.

I’d like to clarify one key point that explains what you experienced:

If the “Join Teams” option is still visible in the meeting, this means the meeting is still a Teams meeting in the background. In this case, only the visible Teams details (such as the link text, meeting ID, and passcode) were removed from the body, but the Teams meeting itself still exists.

That’s why your workaround worked successfully. By opening the meeting in the Teams desktop app, copying the meeting link, and pasting it back into the invite, you were able to restore access to the original Teams meeting without needing to recreate it or involve the organizer.

So, your approach is absolutely valid and recommended in this situation.
