Hold down Windows + R keys, type in mmsys.cpl and hit enter. Then go to the Recording tab. Do you see the Microphone? If so, please make sure it is not disable (you can right click to enable it). Also make sure it is set as default device. Then double click on the microphone, go to Levels tab, make sure it is not muted.

Go to Windows Settings > Privacy > Microphone, make sure allow apps access is turned on.

If that still doesn't work, please type msinfo32.exe in the search on the taskbar and hit enter, then share a screenshot of the pop up please.

Try these steps in order on Windows 11 to get the built‑in microphone detected again:

    1. Check that the mic is enabled and selected
    • Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
    • Under Input, see if any internal microphone is listed.
    • If one appears, select it and test it:
      • Under Input settings, select Start test, speak normally, then Stop test and Play the sample.
      • If needed, adjust the Input volume slider.
    1. Verify microphone privacy settings
    • Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
    • Make sure Microphone access and Let apps access your microphone are turned on.
    • For any app being used (Teams, browser, Office, etc.), ensure its toggle is On.
    1. Reinstall audio drivers (if the mic is not detected at all) If Windows does not show any internal microphone device:
    2. Right‑click the Start button and select Device Manager.
    3. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
    4. For each audio device related to the internal sound card, right‑click and select Uninstall device.
      • Check Attempt to remove the driver for this device (or Delete the driver software for this device) if available, then select Uninstall.
    5. Restart the laptop. Windows will attempt to reinstall audio devices and drivers automatically.
    6. If nothing appears, open Device Manager again, right‑click Sound, video and game controllers, and select Scan for hardware changes.
    7. After devices reappear, right‑click the audio driver and select Update driver.
    8. Confirm no audio device is missing entirely If there is a "No audio device is installed" or no input devices at all:
    • In Device Manager, ensure audio devices exist and show no warning icons.
    • If missing or faulty, install or update the correct audio driver from the laptop manufacturer.
    • Optionally run the Playing Audio troubleshooter from Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.

If, after these steps, the internal microphone still never appears as an input device (even in Device Manager), this can indicate a hardware issue with the built‑in mic, and device manufacturer support may be required.
