Excel and Word not opening after installing Microsoft 365 can be caused by a damaged Office installation.

To fix this, run an Online Repair of Office:

    1. Follow the steps in Repair an Office application as referenced in the Excel blank screen article. This will repair the Microsoft 365 apps (including Excel and Word) on the device.
    2. After the repair completes, restart the computer and try opening Excel and Word again.

If Excel or Word still will not open after the Online Repair, contact Microsoft Support to speak with a person:

    1. Go to the Microsoft support contact page referenced in the installation article and choose the appropriate Microsoft 365/Office product.
    2. Use the Get Help / Contact support option to start a chat or request a call back from an agent.

If more guided troubleshooting for Excel is needed (for example, Excel opens but is blank or unresponsive), use the Excel troubleshooting and guided support page to walk through common issues.
