The account logged in as the admin on my PC is an account I closed and I can not make another account into the administrator. How do I get rid of the closed account and make my new account as the admin?

    Hello,

Open the Control Panel > User Accounts, and select "Change account type" to see if you can set the account as an administrator account.

You can also delete unwanted accounts from this section.

Use a different account with administrator rights to remove the old admin account and promote the new one. If there is no other admin, first create or enable one, then change account types.

    1. Create or enable another administrator account
      • Open Settings > Accounts.
      • Go to Other users (or use the shortcut: Other Users).
      • Add a new user account if needed.
      • Under Other users, select the account you want to make admin.
      • Next to Account options, select Change account type.
      • From the dropdown, select Administrator, then select OK.
This makes the new account an administrator so it can manage other accounts.
    2. Sign in with the new administrator account
      • Sign out of the old (closed) account.
      • Sign in using the new administrator account created or promoted in step 1.
    3. Remove or demote the old administrator account
      • While signed in as the new administrator, open Settings > Accounts > Other users.
      • Select the old account.
      • Either:
        • Change its account type to Standard user (so it no longer has admin rights), or
        • Remove the account from the device if it is no longer needed.

Security note: Limit the number of administrator accounts on the device because administrators have complete control over the system, including installing software and accessing all files.
