Hi Esha Pandya
I understand how frustrating this is, especially when it was meant for PC but turned out to be an Xbox version.
First, just to set expectations based on Microsoft’s policy:
- Digital gifts (games) are generally only refundable if they have NOT been redeemed yet.
- Once a gift has been redeemed, it is typically no longer eligible for a refund or exchange, as the transaction is considered complete.
Because of that, a direct exchange (Xbox → PC version) is not something the system usually supports, even if you are willing to pay the difference. That said, there are still 2 realistic options worth trying:
- Submit a refund request (even if not guaranteed)
- Use the official Xbox refund form: https://support.xbox.com/help/subscriptions-billing/manage-subscriptions/digital-goods-subscriptions-refund
- Select the purchase and explain clearly that it was an accidental platform mismatch (Xbox vs PC)
- Keep the explanation simple and factual
- Contact Xbox Support and push for a human agent
- Go through: Contact Xbox Support
- Choose Billing & subscriptions → Refund request
- Type your issue clearly (e.g., “gift redeemed wrong platform”)
- If chat shows only the bot, keep rephrasing or select different options until “Chat with agent” appears (availability depends on region and category)
This is a public community forum, no one here can access your account or manually approve refunds. Any exception has to be handled directly by official Support.
Hope you'll get this sorted out!
