A Microsoft offering that enables tracking of cloud usage and expenditures for Azure and other cloud providers.
Hello ethan henry,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Q&A forum.
When investigated we see that Azure doesn’t have a single “all-in-one” flat monthly fee—your bill depends on which services you use and how much you consume. Here’s how to get a ballpark and what you can expect for your first month.
- Try Azure for free
- When you sign up for a new Azure account, you get $200 of credit to spend on anything in Azure for 30 days.
- You also get 12 months of popular free services (think Linux/Windows VMs, managed disks, storage) plus 25+ services that are always free at low usage levels.
After your $200 runs out or 30 days end, you only pay for what you continue to use.
Estimate your monthly spend
- Head to the Azure Pricing Calculator (https://azure.microsoft.com/pricing/calculator/)
- Pick all the services you need (VMs, databases, networking, AI, etc.) and enter your expected usage (compute hours, storage GB, data egress, etc.).
- Switch the currency if you want local pricing. You’ll instantly see an estimated monthly total.
Fine-tune with your licensing or offer
- If your organization has an Enterprise Agreement (EA), Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) or CSP deal, select that under “Programs and offers” in the calculator so you see your negotiated rates.
- You can also download your actual price sheet in the portal under Cost Management & Billing → Invoices → “Azure price sheet.”
Monitor and optimize
- Use Azure Cost Analysis in the portal (Cost Management + Billing → Cost analysis) to see real-time estimates (updated multiple times per day) and build budgets or alerts.
- Leverage Azure Advisor and Savings Plans or Reservations to reduce costs by up to ~70% if you have steady usage.
Is it free the first month? Yes—your first 30 days come with $200 credit plus free tiers for many services. Once your credit or trial period ends, you move to pay-as-you-go rates based on actual usage.
Hope this helps you get started.
