Finding the correct menu to upgrade OS from Win 7 to Win 10

I must install Windows 10 on some old computers that still run Windows 7. I want to do this using the system updater, but I do not know how to modify the configuration to allow this new version. Where is the correct menu to push this OS upgrade?

    Hi Freya,

You cannot upgrade directly from Windows 7 to Windows 10 using the built‑in Windows Update menu because Microsoft ended support for Windows 7 in January 2020 and removed the upgrade path from the standard updater. The correct way is to use the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool. Download it from Microsoft’s official site, run MediaCreationTool.exe, and select “Upgrade this PC now.” This will perform an in‑place upgrade, keeping files and applications if the hardware meets minimum requirements. If you are managing multiple machines, the supported enterprise method is to use Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, where you import the Windows 10 feature update package and deploy it to the Windows 7 clients. There is no configuration menu inside Windows 7 itself that allows you to push Windows 10; the upgrade must be initiated via the Media Creation Tool or enterprise deployment tools.
