Wi-Fi keeps dropping after update

Ever since I installed the latest Windows update, my laptop randomly disconnects from Wi-Fi even though the router is fine. I have to manually reconnect each time. Could this be a driver issue or something else?

    Hi Maes,

Yes, that pattern points more toward the laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter than the router. Microsoft’s troubleshooting guidance specifically calls out Wi-Fi adapter power saving, driver reinstall, and driver rollback as fixes when wireless connections keep dropping, and it notes that if the problem started after a Windows Update, rolling back the driver often helps.

You should try to open Device Manager, go to your Wi-Fi adapter’s Properties, and turn off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and then update the Wi-Fi driver, or roll it back if the issue began right after the update. If that does not help, Microsoft also documents uninstalling the latest Windows update from Windows Recovery as a test.
