Follow these steps to stop the Game Pass charges and address the past ones:
- Check which Microsoft account is being charged
- Go to the Manage your payments page from your Microsoft account dashboard and select Investigate next to the card or payment method being charged: Manage your payments.
- This helps identify if the charges are tied to a different Microsoft account (for example, an old account or a family member’s account).
- For more detail on why you may still be charged, see How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft.
- Verify and cancel the active subscription
- Go to Services & subscriptions at https://account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with any Microsoft account you may have used.
- Under Services & subscriptions, look for any Xbox Game Pass or other Xbox subscription.
- Select Manage next to the subscription.
- Choose Cancel subscription or Turn off recurring billing, then follow the prompts to complete cancellation.
- If you see Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage, the subscription is already set to expire and will not charge again.
- If you still cannot cancel
- If the subscription does not show under your account but your card is still being charged, it may be attached to another Microsoft account using your card.
- On the Payment options page, select Investigate to search for other accounts using your card and follow the guidance there.
- Request a refund for recent unwanted charges
- After cancellation, request a refund for eligible recent Game Pass charges by following the Microsoft subscription refund process: How to get a refund on a Microsoft subscription.
- Refunds are not guaranteed, but recent charges—especially if the subscription was unused—may qualify depending on region and policy.
- If charges look fraudulent or tied to an unknown account
- If the Game Pass charges are on a card that might be used by someone else or tied to an unknown Xbox/Microsoft account, follow the guidance in How to investigate a billing charge from Microsoft and also contact the bank or card issuer to dispute unauthorized charges and, if needed, replace the card.
