Display the Page Setup dialog box, for example by clicking the dialog launcher icon, User's image, on the bottom right of the Page Setup group on the Layout tab. In the dialog box, go to the Margins tab and make sure that Multiple pages is set to "Normal." See the screen shot below.

If "Normal" is already selected, and the problem remains, some printer setting could be responsible. These are usually not sticky, though, and restarting Word should fix it (unless the printer defaults have been changed).

    Dear @Michelle Williams,

    I hope you’re having a good day.

    Thank you for your question.

Based on your description, this looks like a print settings issue, where your printer is configured to print multiple pages on a single sheet. That’s why page 1 and page 2 are being combined and the text appears smaller.

For this situation, similar to what was suggested earlier, you can adjust the setting directly in Word when printing:

    • Go to File > Print (or press Ctrl + P). In the print preview screen, look at the Settings section (middle panel). This is where the issue is typically controlled.
    • Look for an option such as “Pages per sheet” or “Multiple pages per sheet”.
    • If it is set to something like 2 pages per sheet, change it to 1 page per sheet, then apply the changes and return to the print preview. This will ensure each page prints at full size on its own sheet. User's image

If the issue still persists after adjusting this setting, could you please share a screenshot of your print screen or printer settings? I’ll be able to help you identify the exact option and suggest a more precise fix based on your setup.

Thank you again, and I hope this helps you get the expected print layout.

Please understand that our initial response does not always resolve the issue immediately. However, with your help and more detailed information, we can work together to find a solution.

    Warm regards,

The behavior described matches printing multiple pages per sheet instead of one page per sheet. Adjust the print settings so Word sends one full page to each sheet of paper.

Use these steps in Word on Windows:

    1. Open the document.
    2. Select File > Print.
    3. In the print window, under Settings, look for the option that controls how many pages are printed per sheet (often labeled 1 Page Per Sheet, Pages per sheet, or similar).
    4. Make sure it is set to 1 Page Per Sheet.
    5. Verify the preview on the right shows only one document page on each sheet.
    6. Choose the number of copies and select Print.

If the preview still shows two pages on one sheet, also check:

    • Page orientation (Portrait vs. Landscape) under Settings.
    • Any printer‑specific layout options in the printer’s Preferences dialog (for example, “2-up” or “Booklet” modes) and set them back to standard/normal.

Once 1 Page Per Sheet is selected and any booklet/2-up options are disabled, each document page will print full size on its own sheet.
