Has anyone had issues with opening File Explorer in Windows 11, I have tried CMD syntax, I have tried diagnostic tools, nothing will allow me to open it, I see it in the taskbar but when I click on it, it doesn't show in my window

    Hi, good day!

    • When was the last time it worked properly?
    • Have you made any changes to your computer recently?

Do you have a secondary monitor connected? If so, please try disconnecting it and see if the issue persists.

If this doesn't work, open File Explorer then Press and Hold the Shift key on your keyboard. Right click it on the taskbar. Select Move then use the left and right arrows on your keyboard to move to the center.

I look forward to receiving your update and I'm willing to collaborate with you till we resolve the issue. Do keep me informed by clicking "Add comment" below instead of Yes or No button.

Try the following steps in order on Windows 11:

    1. Open File Explorer with the keyboard
Press Windows logo key + E. If File Explorer opens this way but not from the taskbar icon, the taskbar shortcut may be corrupted and can be unpinned and re-pinned.
    2. Check for Windows updates
      1. Select Start > Settings > Windows Update.
      2. Select Check for updates.
      3. Install any available updates and restart the device if required.
    3. Restart the device
Even if no updates require a restart, perform a full restart (not just sign out). This ensures pending updates and shell components are fully reloaded.
    4. If File Explorer still will not open, reset the PC
If the above steps do not restore File Explorer, use the Windows recovery options to reset the PC, which can repair system components that File Explorer depends on. For details, see Recovery options in Windows from the File Explorer troubleshooting article.

If File Explorer opens but behaves incorrectly (for example, crashes or certain file/folder actions fail), run the File and Folder Troubleshooter to automatically diagnose and repair common file and folder problems such as copy, move, rename, or delete issues.
