Good Morning,

I have noticed that we have been billed £84.99 this morning to Microsoft Payments Unlimited Company and the Invoice ID is XXXXXXXXXXXX.

It says it is for Microsoft 365 Personal.

I have a Microsoft Family 365 Account which is not due to be paid until 2027.

Can you please help in identifying what this would be for? Is it a One Drive or Office account as we are struggling to identify the £84.99 account

Kind Regards

John Breacker-Lake

Hey there! Nice to meet you!

Based on your description, the Microsoft 365 Personal subscription is active on a different account

Kindly follow the guide on the official Microsoft website to investigate and locate the charge from Microsoft at this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-investigate-a-billing-charge-from-microsoft-398c5328-364c-d5e4-ea8f-f5ad60562a93

If you're able to find the transaction and if this happens to be a forgotten subscription renewal, you can check if they are eligible for a refund through this link:

    https://support.microsoft.com/account-billing/how-to-get-a-refund-on-a-microsoft-subscription-67dca30b-b323-44d5-acc2-e02f9902c472

You may also try contacting Microsoft Support for further assistance in tracking the transaction:

    https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact?SourceApp=smc2&ContactUsExperienceEntryPointAssetId=S.HP.SmcContactUsLanding

Type "Billing Issue" > click "Get Help" > Scroll down to Sign in to Contact Support > Microsoft 365 and Office > Billing and Payment Updates > Confirm > Chat with a support agent in your web browser

If you and the Support Team are unable to find the transaction in all of your accounts, you'll need to contact your financial institution/bank directly to dispute it, and they may process a refund, as this would be considered a fraudulent charge.

You may also need to have your card blocked and request a new one.

Thank you for your understanding! Please let me know if you need anything else.

    Best regards,

    Darhyl

The £84.99 charge for “Microsoft 365 Personal” is a separate Microsoft 365 subscription from the existing Microsoft 365 Family subscription. It is not a standalone OneDrive-only charge; Microsoft 365 Personal includes Office apps and associated services under a different plan than Family.

To identify exactly what this £84.99 subscription is tied to and whether it is needed:

    1. Sign in to the Microsoft account dashboard for each Microsoft account that might be in use (personal, partner, family members).
    2. Go to Services & subscriptions to see all active Microsoft 365 subscriptions and their renewal dates.
    3. Go to Payment & billing → Order history and look for the invoice with the matching Invoice ID and amount £84.99. This will confirm which account and subscription generated the charge.
    4. If the charge is not recognized or appears to be a duplicate/unused subscription, use the Payment and billing help and refund options to request a refund or cancel the extra subscription.
    5. If there is concern that an account may have been compromised or used without permission, use the Account hacked? and Sign-in Helper options to secure the account.

If the charge still cannot be identified after checking order history and subscriptions, contact Microsoft Billing Support directly via the Microsoft account support and billing pages so they can look up the Invoice ID and payment details.
