You can use this instruction to look up all usernames you might have, and then follow the AI instruction to see if it might be in one of those accounts: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/accounts-billing/manage/forgotten-your-microsoft-account-username

If you still cannot find it, any chance your subscription was purchased via Apple App store, or Google Play? If so, they will not be listed in your Microsoft account, but in your Apple or Google account instead.

To locate the missing Microsoft 365/Office 365 subscription when there are multiple accounts, follow these steps in order:

    1. Check each possible Microsoft account for the subscription
      1. Go to the Microsoft account dashboard: Microsoft account dashboard.
      2. Sign out if already signed in.
      3. One by one, sign in with every personal email address that might have been used to buy Microsoft 365.
      4. After signing in, open Services & subscriptions (or Subscriptions) and look for any Microsoft 365/Office product or subscription.
        • If the subscription appears and shows as active, that is the correct account for installing and managing Office.
        • If no Office/Microsoft 365 product appears for that email, that account is not associated with the subscription.
    2. If using Microsoft 365 Family shared with you
      1. Ask the person who owns the Family subscription to sign in to their Services & subscriptions page.
      2. They should open the Share subscription section and check whether:
        • Your email address is listed and the invitation is accepted.
        • The invitation is still pending (in which case they should resend it and you must accept it from the email or from your own Microsoft account page).
      3. After accepting the share, sign back in to your own Services & subscriptions page and confirm that Microsoft 365 Family now appears.
    3. If Office apps are installed but not recognizing the subscription
      1. Open any Office app (Word, Excel, etc.).
      2. Go to File → Account.
      3. Under User Information, sign out of all accounts listed.
      4. Close the app, reopen it, and when prompted to sign in, use the email address that you confirmed in step 1 as having the active subscription.
      5. If there is an option like Update license or Switch account, use it and sign in with the correct account.
    4. If the subscription still does not appear anywhere
      • If none of the email addresses show a Microsoft 365 subscription under Services & subscriptions, the product may have been:
        • Purchased with a different email address not yet tried, or
        • Purchased through a third party (store, mobile app store, etc.), or
        • Expired or cancelled.
      • Use the Get help with your Microsoft account page to troubleshoot sign-in and account issues, and the Payment and billing help section to review orders and subscriptions.

If an active subscription is eventually found under one account, always use that same account to sign in to Office apps and to manage billing.
