Microsoft Store won't update or download apps / Stuck on "Pending" indefinitely

Hi everyone, I'm trying to download the WhatsApp desktop app and update my Xbox app via the official Microsoft Store. However, every time I click install, the progress bar just says "Pending" or "Downloading 0.0 KB" and hangs there forever. I've left it sitting for hours with no change. I tried running wsreset.exe to clear the store cache, but it didn't help.

Hi

In my view, you should first check the network connection of Microsoft Store,if you can normally open the other apps in Microsoft Store, that means the network might work properly.

Second, open the powershell in administrator, run tracert dl.delivery.mp.microsoft.com ,this setp will make sure the route work properly.

Third, try to change dns setting "8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4"or"1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1"

Fourth, open the system setting select Windows update, find the advanced option, open Transmission Optimization, find advcanced option, close the function"download to other computers",pulling the background bandwidth maximum.

If you do all the steps and the problems are not be solved, run windows troubleshotting.

Hello Michael Johnson,

First, open PowerShell as Administrator and run Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Reset-AppxPackage. This will fully reset the Store app beyond what wsreset does. Next, check that the Windows Update service and Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) are running, these are required for Store downloads. You can restart them by running services.msc and manually starting them if they’re stopped.

It’s also worth signing out of the Store and signing back in with your Microsoft account, as account sync issues can cause the “Pending” state. If the problem persists, try clearing the SoftwareDistribution folder (C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution) after stopping the Windows Update service, then restart the PC and attempt the download again.

I hope the response provided some helpful insight. If you find this answer useful, please hit “accept answer” so I know it addressed your concern.

Jason.
