I started receiving the message that I needed to sign into my account this week. I was never able to because it kept going to a white screen and did nothing. I then updated my phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the app and couldn't sign in. I deleted my email from the app and keep receiving the error below when attempting to add my email. Pls help.

The error details indicate a transient system issue when adding the account in Outlook for Android on a Samsung device. Similar Outlook-for-Android sign-in/add-account failures on Samsung devices have been resolved with device-level actions rather than app-only changes.

Use these steps in order, testing Outlook after each step:

    1. Fully close and restart Outlook
      • From Android recent apps, swipe Outlook away to close it.
      • Reopen Outlook and try adding the email account again.
    2. Restart the Samsung S23+
      • Power the phone off completely, wait 30 seconds, then power it back on.
      • Open Outlook and try to add the email account again.
      • In multiple similar cases, repeated restarts resolved Outlook mobile sign-in/add-account issues on Samsung devices.
    3. Check for device power-saving / optimization settings
      • On the phone, open Settings.
      • Locate battery or power-saving settings (may be under Battery, Device care, or similar).
      • Turn off any global power-saving mode.
      • Find app-specific optimization and ensure Outlook and any Microsoft security apps (such as Authenticator or Company Portal, if installed) are not restricted:
        • Disable power optimization for those apps so they can run in the background.
        • If there is an “auto-launch” or “secondary launch” control, allow those apps to launch other apps.
      • Try adding the account in Outlook again.
    4. Reinstall Outlook after the restart
      • Uninstall Outlook.
      • Restart the phone again after uninstalling.
      • Install the latest Outlook for Android from Google Play.
      • Open Outlook and add the email account.
    5. Manually enter Exchange account information (if applicable)
      • In Outlook, go to Settings > Add Account > Add Email Account.
      • Enter the email address and continue.
      • If Outlook does not correctly detect the account type, choose the option like not a ___ account, then select Exchange.
      • Tap Show Advanced Settings and enter the Exchange server/domain details if required by the email provider.
    6. If the issue persists
      • Use in-app support so the Outlook team can look up the correlation ID and error:
        • In Outlook, go to Settings > Help & Feedback > Contact Support.
      • Provide the correlation ID, timestamp, and error code so support can check backend logs for this transient system error.

If the account is a work or school account and device management or conditional access is enforced, also confirm with the organization’s IT admin that the device is allowed and that there are no policy blocks.
