Sending, receiving, and organizing email in Outlook.com
I understand you are experiencing an issue where older emails do not appear in your Sent Items folder in Outlook.com, even though search can still find them. I’m happy to help.
Please reply with:
- Do the older messages open normally from search, or are they only listed?
- Do you see one Sent Items folder or multiple similar folders?
- Does the issue occur only in the browser, or also in another app (such as Outlook desktop or mobile)?
Meanwhile, please follow these steps:
Step 1: Restore the left folder pane
If the folder pane is missing or not displaying correctly:
- Sign out of Outlook.com
- Clear your browser cache
- Close all browser windows
- Reopen your browser and sign back in
On smaller screens:
- Maximize the browser window, or
- Use the three-line (menu) icon to show or hide folders
Step 2: Open the Sent Items folder
- Once the left pane is visible
- Select Sent Items from the folder list
Step 3: Use Search to locate missing messages
If older messages are not visible:
- Use the Search bar at the top
- Search by:
- Recipient
- Subject
- Keywords
Step 4: Check Deleted Items and recover messages
- Open Deleted Items
- Look for the missing messages
If not found:
- Select Recover items deleted from this folder
- Restore any messages you find
Messages deleted from Deleted Items are typically recoverable for up to 30 days.
Step 5: Check filters, rules, or archive
Messages may be hidden or moved:
- Set the message list filter to All
- Go to Settings > Mail > Rules and review any rules
- Check the Archive folder
Please tell me how it goes. If the problem persists, please don’t hesitate to reply to this thread and I will be happy to help. Have a lovely day!
