whenever it tries to send a code to my real email, it says sending a code to some random other account that doesnt even start witht he same letters of have the same ending as mine. i cant even change it because it just defaults to the wrong one and theres no option to change it. this is why google is better than this bullshit.

You have to be able to login to the account before you can change any Security settings.

What does the Account Sign-In Helper say about the status of your account?

    • In a Private/Incognito browser session, open: https://aka.ms/sign-in-helper
    • Scroll down to "Choose how you normally sign in, then enter your details"
    • Click "With an email address"
    • Enter your email address and click [OK]

it says sending a code to some random other account that doesnt even start witht he same letters

Is there a possibility that your account has been compromised and the attackers have changed the verification email?

The verification code is only sent to security info (aliases) that are already on the Microsoft account, so if a different email is shown, that address is currently saved as security info or as the primary alias.

To fix this, the correct email or phone number must be added and the wrong one removed, but this can only be done after successfully verifying identity with one of the existing methods.

    1. If any other verification method still works (another email, phone, or authenticator app):
      • Go to the security info page: https://account.live.com/proofs/Manage
      • Verify using a method that still works.
      • Under security info, add the correct email or phone.
      • Remove the wrong email address that is currently getting the code.
    2. If none of the listed methods are accessible:
      • On the “Verify your identity” screen, choose I don't have any of these.
      • Follow the prompts to replace the existing security info.
      • When all old security info is removed and replaced, the account is put into a restricted state for about 30 days while the new info is validated. During this period, some actions may be limited.

If the wrong email is completely defunct and no other verification method is available, the only supported path is to replace the security information as described above; support cannot manually change security info or send codes elsewhere.
