Did you receive any error message or code while sharing the file?

When did you perform the storage update? Please note that changes may take up to 48 hours to be reflected in your account.

If more than 48 hours have passed, you may need to contact Microsoft Billing Support for further assistance.

To do this, you can search for and open the "Get Help" app on your computer in the "Start" menu, or visit the following page: https://support.microsoft.com/contactus

Then type "Billing" and press Enter. On the next screen, click "Contact Support" at the bottom, then select "Microsoft 365" > "Manage My Subscriptions." Afterwards, you can choose to chat with Microsoft support.

The most likely cause is that the Microsoft cloud storage quota (OneDrive + Outlook.com unified storage) is still over its limit, even after upgrading, so sharing and sending files is blocked until the account is back under quota and the change has fully propagated.

    Use these steps:

    1. Check unified storage status
      • Go to the OneDrive Storage page (for example via the OneDrive web interface) and confirm how much of the quota is used.
      • If OneDrive shows that the storage is full or over quota, remove files (especially large files, recycle bin contents, or shared folders that count against the quota) until usage is below the limit.
    2. Check Outlook.com storage
      • If Outlook.com is used with the same account, check mailbox storage. If either Outlook.com or OneDrive is full, sending email and sharing files can be blocked.
      • Delete large or unneeded emails and attachments, then empty Deleted Items.
    3. Understand unified storage behavior
      • When Microsoft unified storage is full:
        • New files cannot be uploaded, edited, or synced to OneDrive; existing files become read-only.
        • Email cannot be sent or received in Outlook.com, even if the email storage itself is not full.
      • After freeing space or upgrading, it can take some time (often up to 24–48 hours) for the new quota and status to update across services.
    4. Wait for propagation and recheck
      • After freeing space and confirming the subscription, wait up to 24–48 hours and try sharing the file again.
      • If the OneDrive sync app is used on a PC, unlink and re-link the OneDrive account so it refreshes the storage status.

If the unified storage is clearly under quota and the issue persists after this delay, contact Microsoft support from the OneDrive or Outlook.com help entry points so the account storage state can be checked.
