I just purchased a new laptop. I'm going through the steps and Microsoft 365 is not accepting my payment. I'm receiving this message: ValidationFailed/00-ed45f66c1c374020898b384ae1738fd3-0000000000000000-01 June 5, 2026 at 7:19:43 PM UTC

It tells me:

"Something went wrong on our end. Waiting a bit might help"

I've waited - doesn't work

I've called my bank - My card issuer is NOT blocking authorization

My billing address is correct

Please help!

Based on similar Microsoft 365 purchase/activation issues in the context, the error indicates a validation problem on Microsoft’s side rather than with the bank or card authorization.

Try the following steps in order:

    1. Verify country/region and address consistency
      • Go to the Microsoft account profile page and confirm the country/region matches:
        • The country set in the Microsoft account profile.
        • The country/region configured in Windows on the new laptop.
      • Ensure the billing address entered for the subscription matches exactly the address on file with the card issuer (same spelling, abbreviations, postcode, etc.). A mismatch here has been confirmed to block Microsoft 365 subscription setup even when the card is valid.
    2. Re‑enter payment method or change it
      • Go to the Microsoft account Payment options page and check whether the payment method shows any error.
      • If it does, update the existing card details (expiry date, CVV, billing address) or remove and re‑add the card.
      • If possible, try a different payment method (another card, PayPal, etc.). In a similar case, changing the payment method resolved a persistent “PaymentAuthenticationVerificationFailed” error.
    3. Check for security/AV interference
      • Temporarily disable third‑party security software (such as Trend Micro or similar) while completing the purchase, then re‑enable it afterward. A prior case was resolved after ensuring the billing address matched bank records and temporarily deactivating security software.
    4. Retry the purchase flow
      • Close all browser windows or the setup window on the laptop.
      • Sign in again with the same Microsoft account intended for the subscription.
      • Start the Microsoft 365 purchase/activation flow again and re‑enter the payment details carefully.
    5. If the purchase still fails
      • Because the error message indicates an issue “on our end” and the bank confirms no block, contact Microsoft Support so they can check the specific validation failure against the correlation ID and timestamp.
