MS Office LTSC Standard 2024 is a volume license product intended for organizations, not for home or individual use. When such a key shows as not activated and reports that the activation limit has been reached, this typically means a Multiple Activation Key (MAK) or other volume key has been used up or blocked.
Volume license keys (including MAK) are sold to organizations and are not permitted to be resold to consumers. Many third‑party sellers illegally resell these keys as “lifetime” Office 2024/Professional/Standard/Plus” licenses. When Microsoft detects abuse or the activation count is exceeded, the key can no longer be used, and activation fails with messages like:
- “You have activated up to the limit of your Multiple Activation Key”
- Or the product simply becomes unlicensed after working for a while.
In this situation there is no supported way to “fix” or re‑enable that key for personal use:
- Contact the seller and request a refund.
- Stop using that volume license key; it is not a valid consumer license.
- To continue using Office at home, purchase a genuine retail Office or Microsoft 365 subscription directly from Microsoft or an authorized retailer. For guidance and safer purchasing, see the “Buy Office” and “tips for safer shopping” information in the references.
If a new, valid retail key is purchased, install or change the product key according to the official Office installation and activation guidance, and activation should then succeed.
