Hello, good day and thanks for your question. Sorry to know about this and I understand that you have encountered an issue with regards your credit card on your Microsoft account.

If your card is up to date and you have also verified that it is working for other purchase that you made online, please check and try this on a different browser or by using inPrivate or Incognito browsing and another alternative is to link your card to PayPal and use it as payment method. Please see below for other things that you can also check with regards to this issue.

    • Enter your name precisely as it appears on the card and only include your middle initial if it appears on your card.
    • If this is a company card, enter the company name as both a first name and last name. For example, if the company name is "My Company" you may split the company name into the first and last name fields.
    • If the company only has one name, for example, "Company," enter the company name in both the first and last name fields.
    • If you are asked to enter the address and it exceeds the Address 1 field, use the Address 2 field and do not shorten or abbreviate your address.
    • The card number and type cannot be edited, so if you make a mistake, you'll need to add a new one with the correct information. Other credit card information can be edited, such as billing address and expiration date.

If you will still encounter an issue even after trying out the alternatives, you can reach out to the support team at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/ and then click on Microsoft 365 and then click Get Home Support and then type in Billing question and click the blue button that says Sign in to contact Support and login and proceed from there.

The error typically means the payment system or bank is rejecting the card details, even if they appear correct. For Microsoft 365 resubscription, the following checks and fixes apply:

    1. Verify card and billing details exactly
    • Ensure the card number, expiration date, CVV, and cardholder name are entered exactly as on the card.
    • Make sure the billing address (street, city, state, ZIP/postcode, country/region) matches the address on the bank’s records. Even small differences (abbreviations, missing apartment number, different postcode) can cause the card to be rejected.
    1. Confirm the card type and country/region are supported
    • A payment method must be issued from the same country/region as the Microsoft 365 tenant or account.
    • Prepaid cards, stored value cards, and gift cards (for example, Visa gift cards, MasterCard gift cards) are not accepted as valid payment methods for Microsoft 365 subscriptions.
    1. Check card status and funds with the bank
    • Contact the bank or card issuer to confirm:
      • The card is active and not blocked.
      • International or online transactions are allowed.
      • There are sufficient funds or credit available.
    1. Update or replace the payment method
    • If the card has expired or changed, add a new payment method instead of trying to change the number on the existing one.
    • If the system still shows the card as declined after updating details, switch to a different supported credit or debit card.
    1. If the card continues to be declined
    • For persistent “information incorrect” or “declined” messages after the above steps, contact the bank to see if they are blocking Microsoft charges.
    • If the issue persists even after the bank confirms everything is fine, contact Microsoft Support from the account’s billing area so they can review the subscription and payment status.
