    Hi annomyous,

I understand how frustrating it can be when your PC suddenly drops to 1 FPS, especially when you’re using a high‑spec system.

Have you already tried the Q&A Assist suggestions? In addition, please try the following:

    1, Reduce Minecraft RAM allocation

Giving Minecraft too much RAM can actually cause stutters/freezes instead of improving performance.

    • Set it to about 4–6 GB (4096–6144 MB) for 16 GB systems

This keeps enough RAM free for:

    • Windows
    • Browser (YouTube uses a lot)
    • Background services

2, Check if your system is hitting 100% memory/disk when it happens

    Next time it freezes:

    1. Press “Ctrl + Shift + Esc”
    2. Go to “Processes”
    3. Check:
      • Memory (%)
      • Disk (%)

If either is ~100%, that confirms the bottleneck.

3, Make sure your virtual memory (page file) is enabled

If RAM fills up and no page file is available or too small, system can lag badly.

    1. Press “Windows + S” > type “Advanced system settings”
    2. Open “View advanced system settings”
    3. Under Performance > click “Settings”
    4. Go to “Advanced” > “Virtual memory” > “Change”
    5. Ensure: “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives” is ON

4, Run a full Windows Security scan

You mentioned using cracked Minecraft, which can sometimes include unwanted software.

    1. Go to “Settings” > “Privacy & security” > “Windows Security”
    2. Select “Virus & threat protection”
    3. Click “Scan options” > “Full scan”

Severe slowdowns like “1 FPS” even on a good PC are usually caused by one or more of these:

    1. Minecraft using too much RAM or resources
    • Allocating almost all physical RAM (for example ~10 GB out of 16 GB) to Minecraft can starve Windows and other apps.
    • When Windows runs low on free RAM, it starts using the page file (disk) heavily, which can make everything feel like 1 FPS.
    • Close other apps while gaming and reduce the RAM allocated to Minecraft so that several GB remain free for Windows and background processes.
    1. Background apps and startup programs
    • Many background apps or startup programs can consume CPU, memory, and disk, causing sudden slowdowns.
    • Disable unnecessary startup apps:
      1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
      2. Select Startup apps.
      3. Right‑click apps not needed at startup and select Disable.
    • Turn off background activity for apps you don’t need:
      1. Select Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
      2. For specific apps, select More options (… ) > Advanced options.
      3. Under Background app permissions, set Let this app run in the background to Never.
    1. Low disk space or heavy disk usage
    • If the system drive is nearly full, performance can drop sharply.
    • Free up disk space:
      • Turn on and run Storage Sense:
        1. Start > Settings > System > Storage.
        2. Turn on Storage Sense and select Run Storage sense now or Clean now.
      • Remove Temporary files from the same Storage page.
      • Use Disk Cleanup by typing Disk Cleanup in Start and cleaning the system drive.
    1. Outdated Windows or drivers
    • Outdated system or GPU drivers can cause stutters and freezes.
    • Install Windows updates and optional driver updates:
      1. Start > Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
      2. Install all available updates.
      3. Go to Advanced options > Optional updates and install available driver updates.
    1. Malware or unwanted software
    • Malware can consume CPU and disk, causing random 1 FPS behavior.
    • Run a malware scan:
      1. Start > Settings > Privacy & security > Windows Security > Virus & threat protection.
      2. Select Quick scan.
    1. General performance tuning
    • Close unused apps and browser tabs, especially when gaming.
    • If performance drops, restart the PC:
      1. Start > Power > Restart.
    • Optionally, set Power mode to Best performance if on desktop power (not battery‑sensitive):
      1. Start > Settings > System > Power & battery.
      2. Set Power mode to Best performance.

If the issue appears only rarely (like once every few weeks) and goes away after a restart, it is most likely a combination of high RAM usage (Minecraft + browser) and background tasks or low disk space. Keeping RAM allocation reasonable, freeing disk space, and disabling unnecessary startup/background apps should reduce or eliminate these 1 FPS episodes.
