Set work location in MS Places via Webinterface

Question

Hi All,

I have configured MS Places with our work sites and rooms.

When i use Calendar in the outlook client on my windows laptop, i can now click the little building icon and set my work location to one of the configured sites.

In the MS Places webinterface, on the people tab i can also click the little building icon. I cannot select a site i defined, i can only choose Office or Remote. The same goes for the Outlook webinterface. In the Calendar view on the webinterface the defined sites are also not visible.

Does anyone have any workarounds for our web-based coworkers?

Besides creating the building in the portal, I suggest you run PowerShell to enable additional settings based on the article Set-PlacesSettings - Microsoft Places for building provisioning.

1. When you mention “defined sites”, could you confirm what type of locations you configured in Microsoft Places? In Microsoft Places, locations are typically structured as buildings, rooms, and desks.
2. When configuring Microsoft Places, what specific location objects are you able to create and see today?
3. Are these locations visible to users elsewhere (for example, room finder or other location-based features)?
4. Does this behavior occur for all users?
