I tried to transfer the license. I did everything right. It says it can't do it. Then it said do you want to talk to customer service? I said yes. It said enter your number and I'll get a call back. I entered my number [REMOVED PII], and 1 minute later some lady named Divana(??) called me from Bellevue WA from [REMOVED PII]. I was explaining the problem and we got disconnected.

    Hello Val Prisecaru

From what you described, it seems you tried to transfer your Office 2019 license to another device, but the process failed and your support call was disconnected before it could be resolved.

One thing to double-check first is whether your Office 2019 license is transferable. If it originally came pre-installed (OEM), it’s tied to that device and can’t be moved, whereas retail licenses can be transferred. If your license should be transferable, you could try removing the old or dead device from your Microsoft account (under Devices), then attempt activation again, as this can sometimes clear “already in use” messages.

Since your call was disconnected, it’s also a good idea to contact Microsoft support again and mention the disconnection so they can continue assisting with your case. Since this is a user‑to‑user community forum, we can only share suggestions based on our findings and personal experiences.

Here's how to reach out to the Support Team (live chat):

    1. Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/home/contact
    2. In the search box, enter a short description of your issue, for example: Unable to transfer Office 2019 license to new device
    3. Hit "Get Help"
    4. Scroll down and select Sign in to contact support for further assistance (please sign in using a personal Microsoft account). Then follow the on-screen prompts to reach Support Team.

Tip: Support chat availability may vary by country/region, product, and support hours. If you can't get in touch with a chat agent right away, trying again later or at a different time may help.

Hopefully your concerns will soon be addressed. Thank you so much for your patience!

    Best regards.

Office Home & Student 2019 is a one-time purchase that can be installed on only one computer at a time, but it can be moved to a new device if the Software License Terms are followed.

To move Office Home & Student 2019 from the dead laptop to the new one:

    1. Install Office on the new computer
      • On the new PC, sign in with the same Microsoft account that was originally used to activate Office 2019.
      • Go to the Services & subscriptions page at account.microsoft.com/services (from a browser) and locate the Office Home & Student 2019 license.
      • Select Install to download the Office installer, then run it and complete the installation.
    2. Activate Office on the new computer
      • Open any Office app (for example, Word) and sign in with the same Microsoft account if prompted.
      • If activation fails or reports that the maximum number of activations has been reached, use phone activation as required for transfers:
        • In the activation dialog, choose the option to activate by telephone.
        • Follow the prompts and provide the installation ID when requested.
    3. Confirm removal from the old device
      • Because the old laptop is dead, it is sufficient that Office can no longer be used there. The license terms require that Office not be retained or used on the prior computer once transferred.
    4. If activation still fails
      • For non-subscription Office (such as Office 2019), technical support is available via chat and callback for activation issues. Use the official support entry points:
        • For home users needing help with downloading, installing, or activating Office, use the Get Help option from the customer service page to be connected to support.
        • If issues persist, use the Contact Office Support option from the Office install/activation troubleshooting article to reach a support agent again and reference that the previous call was disconnected.

These steps align with the documented requirement that moving a one-time purchase Office license to a different computer must be followed by activation (often by phone) and that Office must be removed from the original computer.
