Hello HassaAzure for Students can show as “disabled” for a few common reasons, and the fix depends on which one applies.
Most common reason: your Azure for Students credit expired or was used up
Azure for Students includes $100 credit for 12 months. If your credit runs out or expires, Azure disables the subscription.
What to check
- Sign in to the Azure Sponsorships balance portal to see your remaining credit and credit expiration date: https://www.microsoftazuresponsorships.com/balance
- Also check what is consuming your credit:
- In the balance portal, look for Usage to see which services are spending credit.
How to regain access
- If you used up the credit / it expired, you’ll need to upgrade your subscription to pay-as-you-go rates.
- Start the upgrade/re-enable process by contacting Azure support: https://portal.azure.com/?#blade/Microsoft_Azure_Support/HelpAndSupportBlade
After upgrading, you should still have access to the free services for 12 months from your sign-up date, and only usage beyond included free amounts is charged.
Other possibility: the subscription was accidentally canceled
If you accidentally canceled the Azure for Students subscription, you can have it reactivated by contacting Azure support (same link as above).
If you’re seeing a “deny assignment / unusual activity” type restriction
Sometimes accounts get restricted due to detected unusual activity. In that case:
- Reset your passwords
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA)
- Review your resources
Then contact Azure support with details about what access you’re missing (the account may still be active but access might be blocked until security review is resolved).
