i just want one browser with all my favourites displayed, as i open new pages, i want a new tab to open not a new instance of edge. i have two logins based on a personal and a work email - i want pages to open as tabs in same instance of edge,

If clicking a new link opens a new Edge window, this happens when the CTRL and SHIFT keys on your keyboard are stuck.

Could you press them once, both, i.e., right and left, a few times, and verify if the issue goes away?

To keep one Edge window with all favorites and have new pages open as tabs instead of new windows, adjust profiles and startup/tab behavior.

1. Use a single primary profile
   • In Edge, select Profile in the top-right.
   • Choose the profile that should be the main one (work or personal).
   • Sign in and turn on sync so favorites and settings follow this profile:
     • Profile > Sign in to sync data.
   • Optionally remove or stop using the other profile so Edge doesn’t open separate windows for different accounts.
2. Create multiple profiles only if needed
   • If both work and personal accounts are required, keep them as separate profiles but be aware they are separate browser instances.
   • To add/manage profiles:
     • Profile > Manage profile settings > + Add profile > Add > Sign in to sync data.
   • Each profile has its own window; switching profiles will open another Edge window by design.
3. Ensure new pages open as tabs, not new windows
   • Most links opened inside Edge will open as tabs in the same window unless a site forces a new window.
   • When opening links from other apps (like Outlook or Teams), ensure they target the same default profile so they open in that existing Edge window.
4. Show and use favorites in one place
   • Add all sites to favorites in the chosen main profile:
     • Go to a site, select Add this page to favorites in the address bar, then Done.
   • To open multiple favorites at once as tabs:
     1. Settings and more > Favorites.
     2. Right-click Favorites bar.
     3. Choose Open all (opens each favorite as a tab in the current window).
5. Configure startup behavior so the same window resumes
   • To reopen previous tabs in one window when Edge starts:
     1. Settings and more > Settings > Start, home, and new tab page (or On startup).
     2. Select Open tabs from the previous session.
   • This keeps the same set of tabs in a single window each time Edge is opened.
6. Sync favorites across devices
   • To have the same favorites everywhere:
     1. Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Sync.
     2. Turn on Favorites (and other items as needed).
   • Using the same Microsoft account on each device keeps one consistent set of favorites.
