Since we don't know what software you are using for mail, or what the error message says, here are general instructions on how to send and receive mail:

Contact your email provider and ask them for instructions on how to send and receive mail on your app. In particular, you need the SMTP information (for receiving) and the IMAP information (for sending).

Follow these steps in order, checking after each step if messages send successfully:

    1. Confirm Outlook is online and connected
    • Look at the status bar at the bottom of Outlook.
    • If it shows Disconnected, Working Offline, or Trying to connect…, go to the Send/Receive tab and select Work Offline once to toggle back online.
    • Then choose Send/Receive and try sending again.
    1. Verify internet connection
    • Open a browser (Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome).
    • Go to http://www.microsoft.com or http://www.bing.com.
    • If these sites do not load, fix the network first using the guidance in Fix network connection issues in Windows.
    1. Check for large or stuck messages
    • Open the Outbox folder.
    • Start with the oldest message.
    • If any message has large attachments (around 20 MB or more), open it, remove the attachment, and either:
      • Attach a smaller file, or
      • Upload the file to a cloud service and send a link instead.
    • Save and send again.
    1. Manually sync (if using Outlook for Windows)
    • On the View tab, select the Sync button (or Send/Receive all folders on the Send/Receive tab).
    • Watch the status bar for sync progress and any error messages.
    1. Check for password or account issues
    • If the email account password was changed on the provider’s website, update the same password in Outlook.
    • If Outlook prompts to sign in, complete the sign-in with the correct password.
    1. Check antivirus and add-ins
    • Some antivirus tools block sending mail when they detect issues. If antivirus shows any alerts, follow its steps to clean or quarantine threats.
    • If send still fails, start Outlook in safe mode to rule out add-ins:
      • Press the Windows key, type outlook.exe /safe, press Enter.
      • Try sending an email. If it works in safe mode, repair the Outlook profile.
    1. Repair Outlook data and profile (if errors persist)

If a specific error code appears in the send/receive error, match it against the error list in the referenced article and apply the corresponding troubleshooting steps.
